Central Oregon is home to variety of year round fishing opportunities. Anglers may choose (or let their guide choose) from over 15 distinct fisheries, with the main attraction being the Lower Deschutes river.
In March - mid May - Lake Billy Chinook: bull trout up to 15 pounds. Crooked, Fall, and Upper Deschutes Rivers: Blue winged Olives dry flies for eager trout. Lower Deschutes: Opens Last weekend in April, mid May is the start of the stone fly hatch
Mid-May - mid June - Lower Deschutes River: prime time for the stonefly hatch, catch dozens of trout per day on dry flies. Great fishing on Lava Lake, Little Lava, Hosmer Lake, Fall River and Crooked rivers. And our private lakes.
June-August - Lower Deschutes River: caddis, PMD's more dry fly fishing. Great fishing on East Lake, Crane Prairie res., Upper Deschutes river, Fall River, and Crooked Rivers. And our private lakes.
September - Lower Deschutes River: some steelhead, caddis, more great dry fly fishing. Great fishing on East Lake, Crane Prairie res., Upper Deschutes river, Fall River, and Crooked Rivers. And our private lakes.
October - November - Lower Deschutes River: steelheading is at it's peak. Some great trout fishing too. Great fishing on the Crooked River, Fall River and our private lakes. |
